Conde Nast Union Could Disrupt Monday's Met Gala: Reports

Unionized staffers at Condé Nast may be planning some form of action today as the Met Gala, an important feature of Vogue’s year, takes place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

It wasn’t clear what forms of protest are being contemplated, but the New York Post reports that the gala itself could be disrupted. Other reports say that a strike may take place.

Any action at the Met could be seen as an affront to Anna Wintour, chief content officer, Condé Nast, and global editorial director, Vogue.

The employees reportedly are concerned because contract negotiations have not been completed.

A post by the News Guild of New York on X says, “Meet us at the table or meet us at the Met on Monday," the Post reports.

“Management apparently thinks it’s acceptable to threaten us with more job losses and waste our time at the bargaining table,” Alma Avalle, writer and producer for Bon Appétit said in a statement, according to The Wrap. “We are ready to do whatever it takes to get our contract and protect jobs. It’s up to management to decide what happens next.”
